Saw these great videos on marriage, love and relationships by Alain De Botton. 🙂
He talks about the anger most people have at the state of their relationships and how many people are sad at how their lives are less than perfect. He advises to diminish our hopes around love; this is made more difficult by the vast industries designed to inflate our expectations of love. Alain quotes the German Philosoper Theodor W. Adorno who said that “Walt Disney is the most dangerous man in America”; because he was the prime agent of hope and therefore of rage and bitterness when the people fail to materialize the imaginary hopes they’ve been fed..
Alain de Botton goes on to state that you will most likely find a good-enough person and not the idealized perfect partner. His insights are amazing. I highly recommend these videos.
