Alkaline Water

I recall my early childhood when my parents focused on this same principle in the Latin edict: “Mensana in corpere sano” meaning, a sound mind in a sound body.

So I believe in beginning at the beginning and what more so than water! After all 72% of this earth is covered by water and up to 60% of our bodies are comprised of water!

Since Alkaline Water is all the rage these days here I am discussing the reason why it has become so.

Water flushes all toxins from our body and that is why we have been advised to drink 6 glasses of clean water a day.

Alkaline Water does more. It maintains the pH balance in our bodies.  In other words water helps maintain the balance between the acidity and the alkalinity of our system.

When we drink tap water we also take in hormones, antibiotics, chlorine, fluoride and various other trace metals. This water can weaken our immune system leading to various illnesses.

Apart from causing cancer, an acidic environment in our systems can also lead to other chronic diseases like heart disease, pressure, diabetes and arthritis among others.

Besides, Alkalinity is anti-inflammatory. Thereby it maintains a healthy climate necessary for a healthy mind and body.

On a different level an acidic environment in the body can cause fatigue, weight gain, low energy levels and other related problems as well.

By consuming fresh and organic vegetables and fruit and pure water you can maintain a well balanced healthy system, avoiding all symptoms of diseases.

According to German Dr Otto Warburg around 95% of cancer is caused by an acidic body. He provided evidence to prove that cancer cells cannot survive in an alkaline environment. (> 7.36 pH level).

You can buy litmus paper strips at the pharmacy and test with new urine or clean saliva for the alkalinity of your body.






Here is a recipe for making your own alkaline water at home which I tried out myself.

There are many recipes out there but I found that they measure the pH level of the alkalinity to acidity of the water outside of the body. Where as what is important is the balance of the pH level once the water enters your stomach. For example lemon is acidic outside the stomach but once we consume it, it becomes alkaline.

Here is the recipe tried out by me:

Ingredients

1/4 of a ginger root pealed and sliced
1 lemon washed and sliced
1/2 cucumber washed and sliced
1/2 cup of washed mint leaves

All ingredients should be organic for better results.

Method

1. Add all ingredients into a jug and mix together.
2. Add water to fill the jug and mix the ingredients and the water.
3. Keep filling the jug with water as it finishes for three days.
4. At the end of the third day you empty all the ingredients and start a fresh batch when required.

All the fresh ingredients contain numerous health benefits including antibacterial and disinfectant properties.

Lemon has the most potent cancer fighting properties that alkalizes the body.
