Here’s the box book I promised you in My Book Collection post

This book I think was the most difficult of all to make from my entire imaginative book collection series, so far!

Painting on paper or cardboard is not easy, as water gets absorbed quickly and surface texture begins to change. You have to wait for every coat of paint to dry before attempting to apply your next coat. I used acrylic paints.

Furthermore, the box I picked was one in which a charger was packed initially. So, the surface area was too smooth, though mat.

This, made the paint tend to peel off if handled too roughly! Therefore, constant touching up was necessary.

The colours I chose are that of the Malaysian flag in keeping with the title of the book – From Malaysia with Love

It’s a very meaningful title considering the political, economic and social milieu of the day!

The overall look of this box book is that of an important document. Even one of secrecy! This is enhanced by the many Valentine’s Day stickers that adorn the book. I must say, this happened quite by accident!.

The letters are cut out from painted board, in this case, in cerulean blue, of left over wrapping from socks . You have to be careful when cutting out the letters to optimum accuracy.
