Will America be able to maintain its dominance in Artificial Intelligence by leveraging its lead in the semi-conductor industry? Even the soft-on-China Biden administration chose to extended President Trump’s ban on US investments in Chinese technology and defense companies.
No doubt companies like Intel, TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), Nvidia and possibly newer players will affect the outcome of this technology battle.
It will be interesting to see how all this plays out in the near future with China desperate to catch up with the U.S and the U.S determined to maintain its global superiority.
For a start the U.S needs to get its economic house in order and avoid tearing itself apart with detrimental local economic policies, end-less foreign wars and divisive “woke” culture wars.
Bear in mind that American sanctions on Chinese firms will only accelerate China’s push toward non-reliance on high quality imported semi conductors. This in turn will create even bigger long term problems since the world will have to deal with a more self-reliant China.
Anyway it looks like the U.S is trying to buy itself some valuable time and prevent high-end AI chip technology from getting into China’s hands.
The videos below by YouTuber John Coogan covers the topic very well.
