A New York man has pleaded guilty to leaving threatening voicemails for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.

In his messages, he clearly stated that he intended to do harm to Greene. He also dared her to charge him. He is now facing time in jail as a result.

Did he actually think he wouldnโ€™t be caught?

From the Department of Justice:

Broome County Man Pleads Guilty to Making Interstate Threats to Member of Congress

As part of his guilty plea, Morelli admitted to that on March 3, 2022, he placed a telephone call to the Washington, D.C. office of a member of the U.S. House Representatives that said in part, โ€œโ€œIโ€™m gonna have to take your life into my own handsโ€ฆ Iโ€™m gonna hurt you. Physically, Iโ€™m gonna harm you.โ€

A second voicemail message on March 3, 2022, said in part, โ€œIโ€™m gonna have to show you, to your face, right up front, what violence truly is, and I donโ€™t think youโ€™re gonna like it.โ€ฆ I can pay someone 500 bucks to take a baseball bat and crack your skull. โ€ฆYou are going to get f**king physically hurt.โ€

A third voicemail message on March 3, 2022, included, โ€œyouโ€™re gonna cause people to get hurt, so Iโ€™m gonna have to hurt you physically. โ€ฆ Iโ€™m gonna make sure that, even if they lock me up, someoneโ€™s gonna get you โ€™cause Iโ€™ll pay them to.โ€

A report from the Business Insider shows just how dumb this guy is:

A New York man who admitted to leaving threatening voicemails for Marjorie Taylor Greene dared her to file charges against him

At one point, Morelli even spelled out his name and told Greeneโ€™s office where he lived, according to court records.

โ€œMy name is Joseph Morelli, M-O-R-E-L-L-I,โ€ he said, according to court documents.

He also dared Greene to press charges, according to the documents, saying itโ€™d give him a chance in court to say โ€œhow bad you are for humanity.โ€

Morelli is under house arrest until his sentencing on June 1. He faces up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Greene noted the irony of the situation on Twitter:
