22-year-old Jan. 6 defendant Nejourde โJordโ Meacham has tragically been found dead, according to reports.
Meacham, a non-violent defendant charged with entering the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, reportedly committed suicide.
He died while facing prosecution for four misdemeanors.
Meacham traveled to Washington, D.C., with his uncle, Odin, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
Before proceeding to the U.S. Capitol, both had attended the โStop the Stealโ rally at the Washington Monument.
Odin was arrested in May this year and charged with violent felonies.
The charges include attacking police officers with a wooden pole.
However, Nejourde Meacham was never accused of violence.
The federal complaint against him includes several photos of him wandering around outside and inside the Capitol building.
The pictures show him peacefully holding a โTrump 2020โ flag.
It states that he walked into the U.S. Capitol, then โwalked to a broken southern window, looked out, and raised his โTRUMP 2020โ flag.โ
He was later escorted out of the building by law enforcement.
At no point did he do anything violent or destructive.
Jord Meachamโs death was revealed when an obituary was posted online.
Julie Kelly, who has reported extensively on the Jan. 6 trials, tweeted that she had been โtold by a very reliable sourceโ that he had committed suicide.
Other Jan. 6 defendants have been known to commit suicide.
37-year-old Matt Perna of Pennsylvania, who was also a non-violent offender and had pleaded guilty, took his own life.
Perna died of a โbroken heart,โ according to his family.
